New measures for data centre grid connection applications

The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU) published their Decision entitled ‘CRU Decision to the System Operators related to Data Centre grid connection processing’ on Tuesday, November 23rd.

In its decision, the CRU have outlined the assessment criteria that will be used for applications for the connection of data centres, which it says will determine whether a connection offer can be made “within the system stability and reliability needs of the electricity network”. In line with this Decision, the CRU has issued Directions to each of the System Operators (the Transmission System Operator, EirGrid plc and the Distribution System Operator, ESB Networks DACTSO and the DSO).
